Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation

October 19, 2011

Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation is a nonprofit helping street children in Vietnam escape the cycle of poverty and build a better life.

Thousands of children are living and working on the streets of cities throughout Vietnam.  They come from homes that are poverty stricken and often have run away to escape alcoholism and sometimes drug use.  Some are victims of trafficking.

Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation seeks to break the cycle of poverty by providing these children with education, training and even job opportunities. They offer a number of services including child rights advocacy, psychological services, creative therapy, a drop-in center and accommodation.

Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation offers the following programs:

  • Safe & Sound:  helps prevent child trafficking by spreading awareness and helps children escape from traffickers and reunite with their families
  • Step Ahead: enables both children with disabilities and street children to return to school by connecting them with a range of services including psychological and counseling services, legal advocacy, accommodation and school fee relief.
  • Hoi An Children’s Home:  enables the poorest kids in Quang Nam province by providing them with a full range of support services to complete their primary education and attend university.
  • Stay in School:  provides children in the poorest rural families with uniforms, stationery, textbooks and tuition fees so that they are able to remain in school.
